This meant that traditional “tear-it-all-down-at-once” wasn’t an option. We strategically commenced demolition on the side where we planned to expand, adding new concrete foundations and building up new square footage first. Replacing all the windows was an essential upgrade, significantly impacting both the energy efficiency and aesthetic appeal of the Shanty2Chic Flip House. Strategic concrete work played a vital role in enhancing both the functionality and aesthetic appeal of the Shanty2Chic Flip House. While we significantly expanded the living space by adding an extra 1,000 square feet, we achieved this efficiently by building above the existing garage, minimizing the need for extensive new concrete foundations. However, we did add key concrete elements to dramatically improve various aspects of the home. On the front of the house, new concrete created a beautiful, inviting covered front porch. This addition instantly elevated the home’s curb appeal, providing the striking elevation and welcoming entry that was previously missing. We also poured additional concrete to expand the existing two-car garage into a spacious three-car bay, not only offering more practical parking and storage but also providing the necessary foundation to build additional living space above. In the backyard, a strategic concrete extension transformed the back patio, creating a larger, more versatile outdoor living area perfect for entertaining. This extension simultaneously formed the structural base for a fantastic new balcony on the second floor, offering stunning views and another private outdoor retreat. Each concrete addition was meticulously planned to maximize the home’s potential, ensuring durability and adding significant value and character to the property.
